Above, his January 2013 planet, Planet One, where the musical inhabitants get together and get a bit more than they bargained for.

Rubber Duck Project

For the last month, the kids have been super into Florentijn Hofman’s Rubber Duck in Hong Kong’s Victoria Harbour. On display until June 9, the Dutch artist’s six-story tall duck has previously floated around waters in Osaka, Sydney, Sao Paolo, and Amsterdam, and will soon be coming to a (currently secret) destination in the United States.

Concurs De Castells

From the 2012 Concurs de Castells, a human tower-building competition in Tarragona, Spain, watch this video by photographer David Oliete.

A long tradition in the region, castells began at the end of the 18th century. The sport has rules, techniques, and team responsibilities to guard safety and success. The pinya or base is made of a few hundred people that can catch anyone who falls, and the tower itself has a variety of different formations. The top three levels are the pom de dalt, made up of children in helmets.

DIY: How to Make a Bike Rack

That’s why we were so pleased to find this awesome little DIY project over at the Kid’s Activities blog. With simple PVC cut to the right size and a little help from the kid, you could have yourself a brand new bike rack and one fun afternoon building it.

Papa Cloudy is a series of stop motion web videos by Akiko McQuerrey who calls herself a “DIY children’s book author who’s focusing on making the world cuter.” After his first view of Papa Cloudy my 5 year old quietly picked up a piece of paper drew a picture of Papa Cloudy with a big heart over it. This is a new series, we hope it continues!
